Partial responses to multi-question surveys

When a respondent begins answering a multi-question survey, each answer will be sent into the Grapevine Surveys app as soon as they move onto the next question. It does not wait for all answers to be completed before sending the responses.

This is to ensure that partial responses to a multi-question survey are captured and that any drop-offs in completion can be tracked. This will help to identify if respondents are dropping-off at a particular point in the survey.

How can I see where respondents are dropping-off?

Within the survey report in Grapevine Surveys, you will see a section that visualises your survey's completion funnel:

In the example shown above, you can see that only 1 out of 4 respondents have answered all 4 survey questions. All 4 respondents, however, answered the first 3 questions of your survey.

In this instance, you might want to consider whether the 4th question is necessary. It could be causing respondents to become frustrated with having to answer so many questions. You may want to keep an eye on the survey completion funnel to ensure that your survey is optimized for efficiency.

Will the multi-question survey appear again if not completed?

When a survey has received at least one answer to a question, the survey is considered as answered.

Therefore, if you have set your survey to only be answered once per customer, the survey will not appear again for that customer should they return to the Order Status Page, Thank you Page, on-site survey page or embedded survey.
