Once your survey question and answer options have been defined, you will no doubt wish to see how the survey appears to your customers across the various channels/surfaces that your survey will be published on.
There are four ways in which you can view/preview your survey widget:
Your Surveys - Preview button
The Your Surveys view within the app presents a list of all of your surveys. These can be filtered by Active, Deactivated or All surveys.
When hovering over a survey, a set of action buttons will appear, one of which will is a Preview button:
Click on the Preview button and a full preview page will open to show an example of how your survey will appear across different surfaces.
The preview can be toggled between mobile and desktop views as well as the ability to toggle between each surface/channel that you have published your survey to:
The Survey Editor - preview pane
You will have seen the preview pane in the middle of the Survey Editor when creating your survey:
The Survey Editor preview pane allows you to see how your survey will appear across the different surfaces/channels it has been published to. The preview can also be toggled between mobile and desktop views:
The preview pane does not pick up and apply your store's global styles, however, it will give you a good idea as to how the survey will appear.
The preview pane of the Survey Editor will show how your survey appears when published on the following surfaces:
As a survey app block on the order thank you page / order status page
As a survey displayed within a standalone survey page
As a survey presented within the Shopify POS app
Please note:
The next two options for previewing the survey will require that your survey visibility has been enabled on the relevant channel.
Place an order on your store
Placing an order on your store will allow you to view the survey on your Thank You Page. This will help you to see exactly what your customer's will experience.
Yes, it will be live, but you can enable it for a brief period of time, test it and then unpublish it should you need to make adjustments.
View an existing order status page
If you would prefer not to place an order on your store but have existing orders in your Shopify Admin area, then this option may be more suitable for you.
To view an existing Order Status Page, go to Shopify Admin > Orders and then select any order from your orders list.
From the order view, click on the More actions dropdown and then select the View order status page option:
You will then see the Order Status Page for that order and the Grapevine Surveys Widget should then appear just underneath the order summary details displaying your order status page survey:
Previewing your checkout app block survey within the checkout editor
To see how your surveys will appear on your post-purchase pages, revisit the Thank You Page and the Order Status Page within your Shopify checkout editor.
Please note: If you've configured Display Rules on your survey (such as order value, customer type, products within the order, or payment method used at checkout), the survey will only appear to real customers when those conditions are met. The checkout editor preview will show all published surveys regardless of Display Rules so you can verify their appearance.
What if the survey does not appear?
If the survey associated with an order has already been submitted, the survey will not appear again on the thank you or order status page if you have enabled the One response per customer option.
If the survey does not appear on your Order Status Page but you believe it should, then please do contact our support team and we will take a look into the issue.
