If you're looking to increase your survey response rate, incentivizing your post-purchase survey with a discount code might be one way to do it.

Whilst grapevine doesn't have any built-in discount code features at present, you can use the thank you message after a survey response has been submitted to reveal a one-time discount code for the customer to use on a subsequent order.

It will, however, need to be a discount code that you create and manage via your Shopify Admin.

Navigate to the Discounts section of your store and create an Amount off order type discount.

In our example we have gone with a 20% discount code SURVEY20 and checked the Limit to one use per customer option.

Within the Grapevine Survey app select and then edit your survey:

Then click into the Settings tab from the left hand pane of the survey editor.

Depending on where you are displaying your survey, you may need to update the Thank you text in two places.

There are separate Thank You text fields for both the Order Status Page widget and Standalone / Embedded surveys.

Click the dropdown arrow to display the additional fields for each surface and locate the Thank You message field.

This is where we will be editing your Thank you text to include the discount code:

You can use this section to thank your customer, include the discount code and perhaps include some additional details about the discount such as any expiry period.

Lastly, within the Settings > General tab, check the Only capture one response per customer option:

Remember to save your settings.

You can preview your new Thank you message by submitting the survey in the preview pane of the survey editor.
