You will find the Rating grid option when creating a new survey or adding a new question to an existing survey. Select it from the "Add another question" dropdown within the left-hand side of the survey editor:
You will then be presented with the Rating Grid question settings, populated with default scale options and items to rate:
Adding your question text
Enter the question you want to ask in the Question field. This is the text that will appear above the grid.
For example: "Please rate the below items based on your product experience."
You can also add optional Sub text below the question if you want to provide additional context or instructions to the respondent.
Configuring the scale options (columns)
The scale options define the rating labels that appear across the top of the grid. When you create a new Rating Grid question, a default scale is populated automatically. You can customise this to suit your needs:
Edit any label by clicking into the text field and typing your preferred wording
Remove an option by clicking the delete icon next to it
Add more options by clicking Add another option
Reorder the options by dragging the handle on the right of each label
Your scale can be whatever makes sense for the question you are asking. You might use a satisfaction scale (Very Dissatisfied through to Very Satisfied), an agreement scale (Strongly Disagree through to Strongly Agree), a frequency scale (Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Often, Always), or anything else that fits.
Configuring the items to rate (rows)
The items to rate are the rows of the grid. These are the specific things you want customers to evaluate against your chosen scale:
Edit any item by clicking into the text field
Remove an item by clicking the delete icon next to it
Add more items by clicking Add another option
Reorder items by dragging the handle on the right of each label
Additional settings
Required: When enabled, the respondent must rate every item in the grid before they can submit the survey. This is enabled by default.
Randomise row order: When enabled, the order of the items (rows) is randomised for each respondent. This can help to reduce order bias where customers may rate items at the top of the list differently to those at the bottom. This is disabled by default.
Previewing the Rating Grid
Once you have configured your scale and items, save your survey and use the preview feature to see how the Rating Grid will look to your customers. The grid displays with your items as rows and your scale options as column headers, with a radio button at each intersection.
