In short, yes, you can!
There is a setting that when enabled, will limit the survey to one response per customer. This feature can be found within the Settings tab of the survey builder:
Check the Only capture one response per customer option to enable this feature.
What happens when this setting is enabled?
Once enabled, customers that have previously submitted a response to your survey will no longer be presented with the survey question at their next checkout on your store.
Enabling this feature will also prevent the Survey reminder from appearing in your shipping confirmation notification email when that customer has already submitted your survey.
On-site/standalone survey pages also observe this setting to make sure that only one response can be submitted per customer.
One Click survey links also observe this setting, provided the link includes the customer's order ID, customer ID or email address.
What happens when this setting is disabled?
With Only capture one response per customer disabled, Grapevine Surveys limits your survey to one response per order.
On your post-purchase pages, a customer who has already responded won't be shown the survey again for that order. When they place a future order, the survey will be presented again, so they can submit a new response.
One Click survey links work the same way when the link includes the order_id variable. If a customer clicks the survey link again from the same email, a second response won't be recorded, and they'll see a message confirming they've already responded.
If a One Click link or standalone survey page includes an email address or customer ID but no order ID, each submission is recorded as a separate response.
If your One Click links don't include an order ID, customer ID or email address, we'll try to stop the same recipient from responding more than once by recognising their browser and network. This isn't always accurate, e.g. two people sharing a device may be treated as the same person.
To prevent multiple responses for the same order with this setting disabled, always include the order_id variable in your One Click links and standalone survey page URLs.
Which option should I choose?
Enable the setting if you only need to ask a question once, e.g. "How did you hear about us?" in an attribution survey.
Leave it disabled for NPS or CSAT surveys, where you'd like to track how a customer's view changes from one order to the next.
Please note:
We will not attribute future order revenue to the original survey response that was selected by the Customer.
