Can I show a different survey to new or returning customers?

In short, yes, however, this is only possible on your online store's post-purchase pages (thank you and order status page) when using a post-purchase survey.

What are my options?

Within the survey editor, enable the Checkout app block channel and then click Choose who sees this survey. Add a Customer type rule and select either New customers or Returning customers and then hit Save:

Here are some common setups:

  • New customers only - Create a "How did you hear about us?" survey with a Customer type rule set to "New customers".

  • Returning customers only - Create a satisfaction or loyalty survey with a Customer type rule set to "Returning customers".

  • Both, with a fallback - Publish a third survey with no Display Rules. This will be shown to any customer who doesn't match the other surveys' rules.

Which survey is shown when multiple surveys match is controlled by the Checkout Display Settings on the app's Settings page.

How do I do this?

First, you'll need to create the surveys that you'd like to display to All, New or Returning Customers.
